World news is the news media jargon for the global or international news that is reported by correspondents who are stationed abroad, whether full-time or part-time. It is also the name of a subfield in journalism where a reporter who specializes in this area files stories regularly to his or her news editor, often by using distance communication technologies such as telephone, satellite TV and the Internet. The bulk of the articles in major news agencies, particularly if they are distributed via wire services (originally using telegraphy), are world news.
